I just inherited my 65 Truck/Camper and took it on a short over night journey from Tucson to Benson and it ran great.
I recently had an electronic ignition put it which really solves a lot of the problems I had on an Alaska trip in 2008. No more points and condensers sure makes sense for me. Because it's 3-speed gearing only allows a max speed of 55mph my wife was very fearful of 75mph freeways with big trucks coming up quickly on us. I put on separate flashers to provide them advance warning that the vehicle is slow. This seemed to work since trucks were passing me without tailgating. I also switched over to LED tail lights and took out the sealbeams and replaced them with motorcycle headlights. I don't drive much at night, but at least I will be able to see what's ahead and be seen better from behind. I am hoping to take a trip to Newfoundland in it next year. Here is a link to photos of it. The hubcaps need painting again so I temporarily took them off. |

Those pics are HUGE! But it worked! Great looking camper. Double points for getting the wife's support! Is that a solar setup on the side?
There's an app for making pics smaller with a right click at http://www.obviousidea.com/windows-s...image-resizer/ If you want them smaller that is. ![]()

I dig this, Mel! Nothing better than GMC's hauling stuff and being driven! You can sure post pics of all the country you and your wife go touring through. We had a cabover very similar to that one on our '72 for many years. Should have kept the camper.
Thanks---DAC
