Carb replacement 1965 GMC 305

This will be my first post. carb had been rebuilt when I got the truck, it’s leaking, went to remove the oil pan - seems like someone did some welding by connecting the oil pan to the mouth of the carb. Looking for advice on how to handle. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...88615d49ce.jpg

That may be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. I'd probably get a sanding wheel for my drill or my grinder and just sand that weld aloose a little at a time then try to smooth everything out.

Regardless, it's going to have to get off there.

Don't forget to close the choke so dust can't enter the intake.

Yep, cosmically dumb!
It would be nice if the pan doesn't make it impossible to remove the carb.

Thank you - with gas there, will need to be extra careful.

I was blown away when I opened the hood the first time - was waiting for this day to come
