Mice getting into truck
 

I have GMC 65 panel truck, v6 305e. Parked outside.
What are the most likely places to check where mice would be getting in? I thought it was the open area around the hand brake. I plugged that area with steel wool and they are still getting in. Are there any openings like in the firewall? Any where else? Thanks

A couple of suggestions (assuming you've already checked the obvious -- the kick panel vent doors -- make sure they're closed tight):

1. Check under the rubber floor mat for rust-through areas.

2. Check the wood floor in the rear for rot-through areas.

Take a close look at the rubber plugs in the firewall too.

I have had problems with the little buggers also. I tried moth ***** etc but it was not effective. I have a 1968 Dodge Monaco I parked for several years. I have a hole in the firewall that is about the size of a dime with 6 or 8 wires going through it. I thought the wires would discourage them but no! They chewed the wires in two to get through the hole! That had to make for some interesting droppings somewhere! What really sucks is when they build a nest in the heater and ducts! Now the best way for me is to go to the farm supply store and get some Tom Cat mouse bait blocks. I put a couple under each seat and no more problem. The poison makes them very thirsty so they leave the vehicle in search of water. When they drink they die shortly after or get so sick they cannot get back in the vehicle. Therefore I have had very few die in the vehicle.

Thanks for the feedback, where are the firewall openings? Passenger side or driver? Not really seeing any.

Like Massey 478, I've had good results by doing the same. I used similar stuff.
