Old 401M Big truck-Pickup
2 Attachment(s)
I'm getting close to finishing up my 401M project. I ran the motor checked compression, oil pressure, no knocks, no smoke, also did a leak down test, checked bearings and everything was very good, so just did a clean-up, new gaskets, and used 305 donor motor for front cover, oil pan, spin on oil filter. New timing gears and chain and new valve springs and retainers, water pump, and all the ignition parts. MSD using the original point distributor, also modified intake for 650 Edelbrock. Can,t wait to fire it up! Now I have to decide what to do with it. Thanks BigBlock for your help along the way you know your stuff!!! Dave :rowdybeer:

Quigley, I hope that you blocked off the center idler gear shaft hole in the block with a freeze plug since you eliminated the 3 piece gear drive and went with the double roller timing chain and sprockets? Otherwise:welldone: |

Yes sir I did it just like you said. Frost plug with a plate over it, same thing on the tach drive. Thanks, Dave
