I recently purchased a Canadian built 1962 GMC 920 it has the original 261 with an SM 420 . The engine had a catastrophic engine failure before I got it,but I was able to salvage it and eventually rebuilt it, the truck has 35000 miles on it and is still in its original paint. The truck is stock from end to end and I plan on keeping it that way. I am trying to find any info on it units built ,where it was built .Any info would be great. Thanks

I know on 67-72 trucks, Canada GM keep records on all trucks built in Canada. Not sure about 60-66. I believe you can get a package for about $90 that includes your build sheet, shipped to dealer, and I'm not sure what else. I don't have a link, but do a search.

Here's the link. http://www.vintagevehicleservices.com/options.html
But it sounds like info for 1963 and older is limited. |
Re: New Member
Thanks for the info,I have owned this truck for over a year and finding information on the Canadian trucks is hard to find. These Canadian trucks are different than the USA built .It has the 261 inline 6 and the Eaton rear end with the Detroit locker, all original to the truck. When I pulled the engine ,it still had the the Borg and Beck clutch in it, I had the disc and pressure plate rebuilt and that's what I am running in it now.
