Please talk me out of it, or not?
I really need to stop looking at Craigslist. So I am thinking about buying this 1964 to restore at a later date. Maybe a project to have ready for my son in a few years when he turns 16. Should I do it?

I would. lol I'd offer $400 though because your gonna have to find a rear axle. But it is a half ton so finding one should be fairly easy.

That, at $300, would be a good parts truck (if you needed parts) but too much rust. Too much work to fix that rust and everything else. Your son will want to drive it at 16 and you will have it apart until he gets married and moves away. I say NO. Wait to see if he digs them, then find one together. That buy-for-son story is used on wife's to be able to buy more trucks.

Yeah, you are probably right. Are the GMC step sides common? I haven't seen many of them. What year axles would be a direct bolt in swap for a 64 1/2 ton? There is a local guy with a huge yard of 60-66 Chevys and GMCs, but he wants $450 and me removing it. Seems pricey.

Too many car and truck restoration shows on TV are driving the prices up! Everyone thinks they have a gold mine in their old rusty cars and trucks.
