Question for the more experience folks: Has anyone split the brake lines to convert from the single pot of death master to a dual master?
I recently purchased a 64 C10 that has 4 wheel drum and would like to upgrade the master for safety but don’t plan on converting to disc for a bit. My lines are in good shape so I was wondering if people just reuse the current lines for the front brakes, plug off the port for the rear and then just run a new line from the master to the line going to the back? |

Using old lines is OK as long as you end up with the dual master plumbed per instuctions. I.E. Typical convention for drum/drum. Generally, rear MC port goes to front brakes and front port to rear. Line goes to rear and splits to each wheel. Line goes to front and splits to each wheel.
VERY important to bench bleed the new MC. GMC trucks are not referred to as C10...that is Chevy. We can still help on brakes however. |

Like Ken said, C10 is Chevy. Don't feel bad though, we see this all the time on our forum, even from guys who should know better. Sometimes we see C1000 which is not correct either. The half ton 60 to 66 GMCs are model #1000. The three quarter ton models are 1500; one tons are 2500. Those model numbers changed in 1967 to the more familiar designations -- 1500 for halfs, 2500 for three quarters, and 3500 for one tons.
