1960 GMC stainless trim under rear window. Wraps around to doors. It is so thin/narrow. I don't know what kind of clips hold it on and am afraid of bending it to peek behind. It's all tight but dented. Trying to decide if I should leave it alone or remove and repair. No backside access. How do I remove this long strip......or should I? Getting ready for paint.

AZKen, here is a link that mentions how one guy attached them to his cab and also mentions the type of fastener that was used originally (spring clip?)
May be something in there that may help. It’s a rare piece you have there. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=614180

Wow! Thank you vey much. I can't believe you found an exact post on that piece. Much obliged for your effort. I am going to see what I can do to remove.

Funky, Got it off with your help and help from a GMC hall of fame friend. You guys gave me the courage. I'm the King of the Forest! They actually popped off pretty easily and one piece bent a little because it was flattened at that point. All clips stayed in one piece so far. Now on to tappity tap tap....after I watch 6 or 8 videos.....
Thank you VERY much. |

Not sure how rare the clips are. I would think something exists that would work. I will be searching.

I remember clips like that on thin fender trim from on the Impala or Riviera, or some such ‘60s sedan; but the exact width might be the biggest struggle.

I may use 3M Molding and trim tape.

Probably better—-if you need to remove again later, dental floss works real well.

Everybody needs to add to favorites "The Cliphouse" I am looking hard at AV11406 which is Auveco 11406. The only issue I see is the wire diameter. It may be too large to fit under trim lip.
