Hi all,
I am rebuilding my '61 GMC 1/2 ton 305E v6 engine. Started to install the oil rings first and the expnsion ring is too wide to seat into the bottom groove, even without the wiper rings installed. Compression rings (all 3) fit well. I got the rings from EGGE Pistons. Went to the Mfg.(Grant) web page and the P/N is correct for a 305 V6. Has anyone on the list had this issue? Suggestions welcome! Thanks, Glenn Last edited by ggoswick; January 25th, 2017 at 09:28 PM. |

Problem resolved - "cockpit error". I hadn't fitted the thin 'wiper' rings properly!

Not yet. Have been just getting parts together! Currently waiting for the crank to be ground for new main(VERY lucky to have found!) and rod bearings, and block which is being cleaned and fitted with new cam bearings and freeze plugs.
