I have a 1966 GMC 1000 with a 2 speed Powerglide transmission that is low on fluid, looking for a recommendation on what type of transmission fluid to add. Thanks is advance for your help!

Well, there are a couple of recommendations
Hypoid lube in the rear end. NON-hypoid lube in the trans if manual (the extreme pressure additives in hypoid lube will eventually attack brass/bronze parts like the synchro cones). If automatic, Dexron or any other ATF except type F. That's what i use for all my tow trucks. If automatic, Dextron ATF. Otherwise on manual trans, regular gear oil (non-Hypoid). |
