I think he was just trying to make sure you knew about the weird "dip it in water" thing if you had that type of seal, which was the only seal you could find for a long time.
Bill, if you click the Youtube button on your post and paste the part of the link after the "V" in it then it'll show the video without clicking a link.

THE RUBBER SEAL HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED. ALL YOU CAN GET IS A ROPE SEAL.I TRIED EVERY PARTS STORE I COULD THINK OF, ALL SUPERCEDED TO ROPE SEAL. I GOT LUCKY AND ORDERED A COMPLETE GASKET SET, THAT STILL HAD A RUBBER SEAL IN IT.

I realize this is a year old but for obsolete gaskets and seals, call these people up they specialize in remanufacturing no longer found seals and all auto both domestic and foreign as well as tractors and vintage tractors. If you can get a neoprene seal in lieu of a rope seal, do it. I have worked on a few inline stovebolts and found it is a great way to abate rear main leaks.

If you didn't already pick up the phone and give them a yell. Tell them what you need and if they dont have it and find it obsolete, they will find a oem part and duplicate it. They need to hear from you.

That's odd, I just talked to Steve at Olsen's last week and he said he had a gasket kit available for my 351C?
