Has anyone else had enough of slamming doors on these old trucks? I put new rubber seals in and I have to really slam the **** out of them to get them to latch. I have adjusted them to the max, and they still will barely latch when slammed. Are there some tricks I do not know about? Has anyone tried the new latch kits? I will add a picture of them. This is the last aggravation of my project, and I would really enjoy my truck if I could trust my doors to function correctly. Any ideas, cures, suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, GM

We put new pins in the doors . We also added new rubber gaskets to the door frame. I have not added the rubber that attaches to the door, because I do not think it will close at all if I do. I adjusted the four screws on the door frame striker plate to there maximum outward position. I still have to slam with force to get the doors to close completely. I see these striker plates for sale often as repops. Are they a possible cure? For 40 bucks I would try that before I spent 350 for the latch kit. Thanks for the help, GM

I have the same problem with my doors after replacing the seals. I think it might be bad after market seal set. Has anyone got a good set from a supplier?

This is a common complaint with brand new weather seals. Usually it works out after a few hot summer days, when the warm temps and pressure from the closed doors reshape the seals to fit more properly. My cousin's '56 went through the same thing w/ new seals.

Also, leave a vent or window open a crack to let the cabin pressure out ... You'd be surprised at how much a good seal blocks air flow.

I had this problem also with my 63 K-Sub- replaced the door weatherstrips and voila!, the doors were impossible to close.
Another poster on this subject eluded to some "hot summer days" that will help these seals to conform over time. I live in AZ, and it gets plenty hot here and still had a problem with being able to close the doors fully. I wound up ordering a pair of their cab door seals (I did not use the top seal on the door- I don't think the 62-66 use this as the 60 and 61 apparently do). http://www.soffseal.com/store/main.a...tail&item=9008 (cab seal), they also have the top of door seal, item = 9972 When these (softer) seals were put on the doors, HOLY COW, what a difference! Both doors close effortlessly and seal better than how they came from the factory. I am pretty confident that this would solve your problems. My doors close without any slamming or extra effort on my part, and these seals keep the elements out- no wind noise or leaks. I am a happy camper since I installed them, been about 4 years ago now. Give it a go- you won't be sorry. About 75 bucks for the main cab seals pair, and another 45 if you want the top of door seals.

Thanks, I'll give them a try. The seals I put on over a year ago haven't got flattened yet, and slamming the doors is frustrating.

I can vouch for the quality of Soffseal brand, too. Best way to go IMHO.

I am willing to try the SoftSeal brand. I never even got the door top pieces installed, and I still have to slam with the might of Thor to get them to completely shut. Who is a good supplier? And do they go to the Moultrie Georgia Swap Meet? I need a good excuse to go there, haha. Also,we used Black adhesive to mount these. Is there a product that will get it off and leave the paint on? Thanks for any help, GM
