1961 was the best of the two years that have the cats eye hood - the 61 hood pods are sculpted to make the lenses appear to "float" inside a Black background, and the grille has the center "floating" chevrolet emblem - both of which are more appealing than the plain white pods and plain bars found in a 1960 grill. The 235 engine is hard to kill and will run forever and the 60-61 torsion bar suspension is unbeatable by any 63 up coil spring trucks in terms of cornering and ride smoothness. The visors and armrests are unique to 1961 only - they have a pebbled or thatched appearance vs every year prior and every year after - very strange. Also a unique interior Bluish Silver paint vs the Silver used from 1957 to 1960 which is a dull and less attractive Silver interior paint. A lot of good reasons to have a 61 Apache alongside your beloved GMC's....
