Holley 4412 2 barrel carb conversion on 351e magnum

Folks:
Not finished yet, but made good progress today on conversion. Purchased a 1" aluminum spacer plate on eBay with 500 Holley bolt pattern ($42). Overlaid trapezoid base manifold gasket on spacer plate and drilled (4) 5/16" holes as well as 1/2" countersinks so I could bolt it to my manifold. Bolted using (4) 5/16" x 1.25" grade 8 Allen head bolts with thread lock applied . Purchased knockoff Holley 4412s from Amazon for conversion ($115). Yes, it's Chinese manufacture. Real deal from Holley is $500 on sale if you want the original. Made a bell crank for the choke cable so that I could use my original choke cable which would be too short to reach passenger side of holley vs drivers side with the original Stromberg. Purchased a 16" wide base plate on eBay ($23) that fits 5.25" opening on Holley carb and retains my stock air cleaner top that's 16" wide. Here's some pics from today. Hope to fire up tomorrow... Stay tuned. Regards Steve |

Here's two more pics of air cleaner base from eBay with 16" diameter and wix 42359 filter as well as stock manifold top to give it stock appearance under the hood.
First fire tomorrow... Stay tuned. Regards Steve New Orleans |

Nice job. I did the same thing with my air cleaner, found a base at Summitt Racing and used the stock top.

Folks:
Thanks for your support. Made first fire yesterday. Started right up after a bit of cranking to fill the bowl on the new carb. Tweaked idle mixture a bit using vacuum gauge. Should be out for a ride today to see how jets/mixture looks. So far runs fine with Chinese Holley with no fuel or vacuum leaks noted. Stay tuned... Regards Steve New Orleans |

Drove truck a bit today and pulled a couple of plugs to see how mixture looked. Seems pretty good thus far. Not planning any changes to jets unless this changes.
