Hello from Poland

I would like to say hello as a neewbe to the forum. I bought the car as recovered from theft at an auction in the USA and brought it to Poland (a country in europe :P) Currently I am trying to restore it but I am not the first owner so there is some things to improve :) the car has a changed engine and transmission - factory it was a V6 and maunal transmission and now it is a v8 350 (I think) chevy with automatic transmission (probably th300). Unfortunately, due to human error during the transportation of the car to europe (more than 3 months) water poured into the engine through the carburetor and did damage mainly to the head. After replacing the carburetor with a new one, the car came to life but probably some valves are not holding pressure and the engine is not running as it should. I hope I can find help here in selecting parts for the overhaul - I know quite well about mechanics and engines, but finding and matching parts in US engines is sometimes a mystery to me :)

Poland? I frreakingg LOVE Poland!
Most based country on earth, no question. And most beautiful women! (My wife is German/Polish heritage)

Welcome to the forum. We usually deal with the 305s because we try to preserve history, but you got what you got. It's a shame they let water get in the heads. Be sure to check the oil color and see if you're pushing baby poo (camel colored goo) instead of oil. Water in the oil is very bad.

Looking at the pics, is that a generator instead of an alternator? Those are hard to come by anymore if so. You can rebuild them forever too. Love the puppy hood ornament!

The first thing I did was to change the oil and filters twice :) I've had this car for almost two years and when I have some time, I work on it

No, this is an AC compressor, I have an AC, but without gas and I do not know what gas should be in it and how much oil should be in the system.

Hi Miko, here is another member from the Netherlands.

That is a nice straight truck you have there, with some customization.
If you want to reinstall the 305 V6 I'd post a request on Facebook Marketplace. Usually there are quite a few groups for US cars/parts. I've come across a lot of people that pulled the V6's to install for V8's, big chance there are still some V6's stashed away in a corner that nobody can sell, because not a lot of people want them.

Sure is a shame that the engine is ruined by the people who shipped it!

I did this and received several responses, but when I said something about shipping, no one was interested. Always only personal pickup

Did you post your request in the US groups or in the European groups?

US groups only.
I found one engine in the UK, but in poor condition

Try EU groups, I asked in some Dutch groups about GMC V6's and I recieved 2 or 3 responses from folks who had a 305 V6 stashed away.
They are out there, ask around.
There are also people who have a container with US car parts shipped out each year. You can ask them as well, but this is the more pricey route.
I ended up finding my 478 after I had an ad on a local site for half a year. Never had a response, but one of the last days before it expired I got a message that they had a 478 for sale. Couldn't be happier.
