Wheel cylinders 1960 1500
 

I've had my '60 3/4 2wd for fifty years. I think I rebuilt the wheel cylinders 30 or 40 of them ago. Sprung a leak this week winching trees in a spring clean
up while in hunkering down mode.
I thought I was lucky to find a cylinder for the left rear, 1 1/8" bore.
Turns out it was simply the wrong one in every way, even though the Centric Part number 134.66004 fits the app on every web source.
It doesn't fit in the hole in the backplate, has the bleeder at the bottom and is not compatible with the flared end on the hydraulic line. It also cost $37.
Turns out the correct one will probably a Raybestos 14521 (left side and 14522 right side). I ordered them at $8.95 each.
Anybody come across this bit of weirdness?
I am sure my truck is stock.
I think the front ones may be the same but on different sides but might not take the flare on the flex line.
No urgency, but a sort of Murphy's Law thing.

On my 62 3/4 ton 2wd,I ran into the same thing. Don't remember the part #s but I remember returning them to Rock Auto and the 2nd ones fit perfect. Dave

Let us know if the 14521 fits or not.

Thanks for the replies.
For some reason the automatic notification didn't do so and just found them.
The 14521/22 are the correct ones.
Those are also NAPA numbers and turned out to be $17.

My '60 is 60!

Hey there,

Im having the same problem finding the wheel cylinders for my 66 3/4 ton... all the dimensions of the part numbers you posted look the same but they look slightly different.

Also napa says they only fit a 62 but not sure this is correct. Im also shipping to New Zealand so want to get right before i buy (again).

Any help would be appreciated thanks

Bore size is 1 1/8 and cylinder line thread size looks to be 7/16-24

This website lists cross reference numbers that may help. Also, from the Previous Forum Posts, looks like you will need left and right specific cylinders.

Scroll down halfway and you will see the casting number 7534

The part numbers are 5462163 RH and 5462164 LH. The LH is no longer made. They list the RH for both the right and left. Dorman W34475 and RAYBESTOS WC34475. The rebuild kit 5455856, DORMAN 13620 and RAYBESTOS WK36.

Front 5457149 RH DORMAN W34334 and RAYBESTOS WC19087. 5457148 LH DORMAN W34333 and RAYBESTOS WC19086.

For my rear wheel cylinders I used Centric 13462016 and Centric 13462015. 1966 3/4 ton with a Dana 60.

The Centric numbers cross to BrakeBest WC34474 and WC34475. Presumably the same Dorman/Raybestos numbers that were mentioned above. It also crosses to ACDelco 18e28 and 18e29. Edit: ACDelco cylinders say they use 3/8 threaded fittings.

If you're using RockAuto, try looking up rear brakes parts on a 1974 Jeep J20. They use the same rear axle. I sourced my drums, shoes, wheel studs, wheel cylinders, and hardware by looking up that truck and comparing to the parts I had on hand.

Unfortunately I can't help with front wheel cylinders, as I have front discs.
