Correctly made window beltline felts
Guys,
Finally found them, correctly made beltline felts that go on your door at the opening at the bottom of the window. Most suppliers like L&M ,classic and others are all getting them from a supplier in Taiwan, or China and these units are made incorrectly. The issue is the placement of the mounting pins, on these units, the pins are in the middle section of the beltline piece. What this does is place the bottom edge of this too low so when you try to roll the window up you CAN'T because the channel holding the window hits it so a gap is always at the top. I just received a set made in the USA, with the pins located at the bottom, they are a copy of the originals, made with a steel frame, steel pins.:upyes: https://www.rubbertherightway.com/19...89490-prd1.htm |
Re: Correctly made window beltline felts
That is great info. How did you find out they were American made?

Re: Correctly made window beltline felts
It said so on the package. The site also says their products are made in the US, they make a full line of rubber items for our trucks.

Re: Correctly made window beltline felts
From their web site:
"All parts manufactured by RTRW are USA made. That being said we use many outside suppliers - a very small percentage of which make some parts abroad. We hold these parts to the same scrutiny as their USA made counterparts and they compose less than 5% of the parts we offer." Good to know that San Diego, CA is in the USA. Their shift boot and cowl seal is made by Precision Products. (Logo across picture) They only sell 8-10 products total for my truck. Don't think they make many of them. |

Re: Correctly made window beltline felts
They are a bit pricey on shipping, I took the USPS option, came in a sturdy shipping tube, so no chance of damage. On the package it says it is made by a company called Precision.
Can't do the install till later this year, too much snow and it's pretty cold outside. I was looking at a service manual for the truck, looks like there is a regulator stop that could be loosened to maybe allow the window to go down a bit further to ease install. I can supply picture of where it is. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7836/...bab4df91_m.jpg |

The info and critique of the part is VERY helpful and appreciated.
These guys are just a vendor/drop shipper for Precision and other companies. Let's not get too exited.:getrdone2: |

Ok I recieved mine last week and took a few quick shots, I'll install theis weekend.
1st. These units are NOT the re-popps we've seen in the past, they are a heavier unit, I'll actually weight on a digital scale to let you know the differance. 2nd. they are MADE IN THE USA, not taiwan or in some far away land. The design and clips are different, see pictures. I'll take some more as I install them and add to this post. |

I compared these to the original units, here is a picture of the originals on left and the ones from Taiwan (incorrect pin location) on right. These new ones from Rubber the Right way looked like the originals.
In my service manual there are some stops that can be loosened to allow the window to go down further (I hope) to make instillation easier. I can send you a picture if you need the info. |
