Bumper Brackets
Does anyone know why these bumper brackets are bent down and if that is the correct bumper for my '60 stepside longbed 1000 ? Thanks

Re: Bumper Brackets
Open tailgate and see how much clearance there is. Could you open tailgate with a trailer attached?
just my too scents |
Re: Bumper Brackets
When the tailgate is open level with chains attached there is 7 1/2" of clearance from top of bumper to underside of tailgate - there is no hitch mounted but if there would be the bumper is in the way unless hitch sticks out on top of bumper but that seems weird.

Re: Bumper Brackets
The rear bumper lines are basically in line with the front bumper. Those brackets and the bumper go to something else--I think from the OD era ('54 and earlier). Fenderside bumpers are close to the rear bodywork and have a dip formed in the middle-yours appear straight across. Goto ebay and search 55-66 stepside chevy bumper

Re: Bumper Brackets
I'm ok with the straight rear bumper unless i can't fit straight original brackets to it so it does not drag so low and possibly put a hitch under it eventually. Thanks for all your answers !
