401 V6 with New Venture 5-speed transmission
Miss-identified as a Chevrolet motor is a 401 V6 in Dayton, Ohio. See http://dayton.craigslist.org/pts/3606232371.html

It's out of a larger H or J 70-80 series Chevrolet truck so it won't have "GMC" stamped on the valve cover rather just a blank cover with a sticker labeled "Hi Torque 401". So basically this is a Chevrolet version but there's no difference realistically, just a GMC rebadged as a Chevrolet and by 1972 all GMC V6 engines lost their logo which was replaced with "V6" stamped on the valve cover,just made things easier for both divisions as "badge engineering" became more cost effective.
