HEADS UP A New V-6 Emblem
2 Attachment(s)
I was searching for a good picture of our V-6 emblem for a custom tire cover I want for my in the bed spare and on Google I found this for sale on eBay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/3911031...chn=ps&lpid=82 I've never seen a plain V-6 Oval Emblem, We've seen this on the Magnum Series, but never plain. Someone might want to scoop this up for our collection |
Re: HEADS UP A New V-6 Emblem
Thats way too much for one emblem, and its 50% off right now!

Re: HEADS UP A New V-6 Emblem
I don't disagree but the important fact is, is it an actual correct emblem?

Re: HEADS UP A New V-6 Emblem
That's the same emblem I put on my 67 pickup. I heard of someone selling a v6 and transmission from a large B-series truck. The story is the truck was an old semi used on a dock on the West coast and later shipped up to ND and converted to a grain truck. Anyway, by the time I got to the truck, the PO already stripped the entire cab off and threw in a scrap pile, while leaving angina in the frame - he was making a trailer out of the box. It didn't run, but for almost nothing he loaded the whole thing in my pickup (same pickup it was going in) and let me roam through the scrap pile where I found these hood emblems. I hadn't seen them before either.
So, that's where mine came from - a large truck, I think was a 65 5000 series. |
Re: HEADS UP A New V-6 Emblem
I just checked the part numbers for the two I have; one with and without the "Magnum" and thunderbolt. The part numbers are the same 2484679 for both.
There is another eBay listing for the identical Magnum version with a different part number as well 2483671?! Listed as being for a 66. http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/331714928274 Maybe the plain version is also a magnum version and the "Magnum" and Thunderbolts added in the later years with a different part numer(?); Just a guess. |
Re: HEADS UP A New V-6 Emblem
The must have had different emblems for 305/351C trucks and the Magnums. Since it looks like the back surface of these emblems are flat, my guess these are for '66 and newer E/H/J or Steel Tilts.

That's a cool emblem. Never have seen one myself.

Re: HEADS UP A New V-6 Emblem
That's a real rare emblem, I think it was only used in 67. Nearly 8 years ago someone posted one off a yellow 67 GMC, I still see that truck occasionally in Northern California. It was last May I saw it in Fairfield California near the Travis Air Force Base, the truck now is a complete roach. If I see it again maybe I'll ask the owner if he want to let go of the emblems since it's powered by Chivy small block!:teehee:

Re: HEADS UP A New V-6 Emblem
Yeah it is! I can't figure out if they were OEM or a dealer accessory. Doesn't show in any parts manual. My truck never had them (early '67 Fremont build), and the few pictures of them that I have show them in different locations, above and below the Camper Cruiser emblem. Never saw them on any larger truck. A real mystery!

Re: HEADS UP A New V-6 Emblem
Bringing back an old thread here, but if anyone ever runs across one of these V6 Magnum Power pickup emblems, I might know a place that could reproduce them. It might even be possible with a good photo and dimensions.,

Hey Jake, Here is a decent head on view of the 60,61 round badge. I have also included a good view from an ad that has the GMC in the correct 60,61 letters.
