Friday afternoon 911
Hello everyone after resurfacing the flywheel only 6000th and putting a new clutch pressure plate throughout bearing in it won't disengage. Clutch pedal down and try to put it in gear all I get is grinding. Any help on this would be awesome. 1962 GMC with and 305 with a 3 on the tree.

Any fluid in the brake/clutch reservoir? :)

Yes sir....

Re: Friday afternoon 911
When I pulled the inspection plate off and have someone press the clutch pedal I can see everything working where the pressure plate comes away from the fly wheel.

Re: Friday afternoon 911
DId you mash the pilot bearing or anything that would cause it to bind up there? If it's pulling away I can't think of anything that would keep them locked up. Did you put the right clutch in? If you bought a chevy clutch it won't work.
P.S. Jeannie please move this to the transmission forum. it's in general. |
Re: Friday afternoon 911
I just double checked it it is for a 62 GMC one ton 2 Wheel drive motor.... When I press the pedal everything moves to disengage it just seems like it's not pulling far enough away.

What's the make/model, etc of the clutch? If it's not exactly the right one (the pressure plate really) it won't disengage. |
