1960 gmc

Well Greyson gets the 65 until his jeep is done. I am going to start using the 60 as my alternate work truck. I also will start posting some pics and details of what I did to make this a practical rig for my uses. This truck is not restored or correct but I did it for less than 3000.00 bucks. Plus I love the orange.

Now the 60 is sporting this 8 foot Alaskan camper. Set up as is it about 1000 pounds.

Re: 1960 gmc
Very nice. I've thought about doing something very similar with an Alaskan Camper.

Super nice truck. Alaskan campers were the top of the line back in the day. Only rich guys had them. I believe they crank up, right? Very rare to see one in good condition. Hydraulic? Say what?

Re: 1960 gmc
Thanks Ken. That 60 has the motor and hydramatic trans from a truck I owned back in the mid 80's I sold it sometime in 87 and bought it back from him about 5 years ago. The truck was rusted beyond saving but the motor was very low mileage. The truck in the pic I found in 06 paid 400 bucks. It has no rust or any rust repairs. I pulled the 350 and used the two trucks to make one. The camper I got last year for a hundred bucks. It was on a 68 dodge W200. The setup sat under a carport since 1989. The scrapper cut up the truck. What a shame. But I saw the camper just before he was going to smash it with his loader. The Kids spent a ton of time stripping the paint that was applied back in the 80's. Its all clear birch. Its going out to Spirit lake Idaho this week. Its going to be my home away from home as I build our lake home.

Re: 1960 gmc
Oh. Ken it is hydraulic. Has a little pump in the closet . Just pump and up she goes. I had to fix one seal on one cylinder. I will post some pics when I get it out to the lake.
