305/350 accessories question
My 305A has an alternator in the stock generator position and an (old) aftermarket A/C compressor in the same position, but drivers side. It doesn't have a belt currently.
I have a 2 belt crank pulley, so obviously the front belt would drive the A/C compressor. If I wanted to add factory power steering, I assume it would go low on the drivers side like the 71+ power steering? Would it use a third belt? How many accessories were GMC putting on these engines, and how would they be driven? Thanks for your feedback -- I'm new to the GMC V6. Brian |
Re: 305/350 accessories question
power steering goes below a/c compressor, uses 3 belt pulley on crank.

Re: 305/350 accessories question
Bob,
Thanks, that's what I suspected. Are pulleys interchangeable between the 305 and 351? Brian |
Re: 305/350 accessories question
They will interchange and there was an add-on third pulley for the crank that I believe was for the AC on later Trucks.

Re: 305/350 accessories question
An add-on pulley? I've got a double pulley right now. This would let me convert the double to a triple?
Happen to have any pics of this? Thanks! Brian |

Sorry BP, it's part of a package I'm holding onto for now.

BB,
Do you have a picture showing the routing of the belts? I don't have a belt on the A/C compressor at this point, but it looks like the belt would run VERY close to the water pump. B |
